NatchPlay is run by Natchland Studios in the UK, which is responsible for the data described here. This page says what we keep, why and for how long. We don't sell data, we don't run ads and we don't use trackers on this site.
Your account
- Your email address, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself) and when you signed up. We use the email to sign you in and to send you account and relay notices.
- Sign in sessions, which end by themselves after 30 days.
- If you pay, a Stripe customer reference and your plan. Stripe holds your card details, we never see them.
- The emails we've sent you, so the same notice is never sent twice.
Your agents and relays
- Each agent you sign in: the machine's name, its operating system, the agent's version and when it last checked in.
- Each relay: its name, game, ports, region and any domains of your own you've added to it. Any player addresses or ranges you ban on it are kept with it.
- How much traffic each relay carries each month, which is what its allowance is counted against. Its traffic and players an hour at a time, for its history. We count the traffic, we don't look at what's in it, with one exception below.
Players on your relays
- While a player is connected, the relay holds their address and the round trip and loss it measures for them, so your relay's live page can show them. That's replaced every few seconds.
- When a player leaves, their session is kept for your relay's history: their address, the country it's registered in, when they joined and left and how much traffic they used. Only you see it, on your relay's page. The country comes from the regional internet registries' own public lists, no other company is sent the address.
- On relays on the relay plan, for games we don't yet have a first packet check for, the node keeps the first 32 bytes and the length of a few new players' first packets, at most 8 a port an hour. That's how we write the check that lets a game have free relays. It's never done on admin ports like RCON, whose first packet can hold a password.
- Each relay node keeps a system log for fixing faults. It can hold a player's address when a connection is refused or fails. Older entries are dropped as the log fills.
- Your server can see each player's real address, so bans and limits work the way they would on a rented server.
Keeping the service safe
The address you visit this site or the API from is used to limit repeated sign in attempts and similar abuse. Those counts expire by themselves within the hour.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare runs this site, our API and its database. It sends our email too.
- Stripe takes payments.
- The relay nodes run on servers rented from OVH (in France and the US) and BinaryLane (in Australia and Singapore). Game traffic passes through the node in the region you picked.
Why we're allowed to
Most of this is needed to provide the service you signed up for. Limiting abuse and keeping fault logs are in our legitimate interest in keeping the relays working for everyone. Payment records are kept because tax law requires it.
How long it's kept
- Your account, agents and relays are kept until you delete the account.
- A relay's history and its players' sessions are kept 7 days on a free relay and 90 days on the relay plan, then deleted. Deleting the relay deletes them straight away.
- Recorded first packets are kept until the game's check is written from them, at most the 50 newest for each port of a game.
- Payment records are kept for six years, as UK tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, have it corrected or have your account deleted, by emailing studio@natchland.com. Deletion is done within 30 days. If you're not happy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll email you before it takes effect. The terms of service are on their own page.
