Moving a server from playit.gg to NatchPlay
Both work the same way from your side, an agent on your PC and players joining a relay, so a server can run on both for a while. Players move to the new address at their own pace and nobody's left with one that's stopped working.
What changes for players
The address. A NatchPlay relay is your relay's name and region, like yourname.eu.natchplay.com. Minecraft Java players join on that with no port, everyone else adds the port the agent shows you. Your playit.gg address keeps working until you stop its agent, so there's time to tell everyone.
Moving it
-
Create an account, then New relay with the same game. Pick the region nearest most of your players, there's a ping to each one from your browser on the network page.
-
Install the NatchPlay agent from the download page on the PC the server runs on, beside playit.gg's. Then sign in and carry the relay to your server:
natchplay login natchplay relay add yournameBoth agents reach the same server, so players can join through either address.
-
As an administrator,
natchplay service installso it starts with the PC. -
Share the new address. Once everyone has it, stop playit.gg's agent and remove it the way its own docs say.
Things that work differently
- One relay carries every port of one server, whatever the game. The agent finds them while the server's running.
- You pick the region. A relay moved to another region later keeps its name, its address takes the new region's label.
- For a Steam game, Relay address puts your server in Steam's list at the relay's address, see the Rust guide.
- Each relay has a page with every player on it and their round trip, measured by the node.
- One relay is free for Minecraft Java or Rust in Europe or the US with 50 GB a month. Every other game is £10 a year or £1.50 a month a relay, see pricing.
